Pick the region where your class will play. Each deck has 16 bird cards with a Birdseed cost, a beginner-friendly identification clue, and a likely habitat.
Choose a deckBefore you choose
Birdseed is a cost.
It is not a score.
Easy predictions cost more. Risky predictions cost less. Spend no more than 20 Birdseed on your roster, then circle 5 cards for your Starting Flock.
When you find a bird: +3 points if it is in your Starting Flock, or +1 point if it is on your Bench. Evidence and habitat bonuses are extra.

How the costs were set
Regional evidence, simplified for play.
Costs use regional fall occurrence, habitat, and beginner detectability. They are deliberately broad: eBird explains that its bar-chart frequencies show the share of complete checklists reporting a species, while regional checklists describe whether a bird is common, uncommon, or rare in the proper habitat.
